    Indianapolis Colts - Blue

    colts.com
This big, goofy blue horse has a whole fictional backstory, allegedly born in 'Jockey, Indiana,' and even won a fifth-grade breakdancing contest! He was created by a performer who wanted a 'big and funny' character, and he's known for his hilarious nose streamers.

    Denver Broncos - Thunder

Forget a costume, the Broncos have a *real* Arabian horse named Thunder who gallops across the field after every touchdown! Three different magnificent horses have proudly carried this unique tradition since 1993.

    Baltimore Ravens - Poe

Named after the famous Baltimore resident Edgar Allan Poe, this raven mascot initially 'hatched' in 1998 as one of three costumed 'Raven Brothers' (Edgar, Allan, and Poe). While Edgar and Allan have retired, Poe continues the literary legacy, sometimes joined by live ravens, Rise and Conquer.

Jacksonville Jaguars - Jaxson de Ville

Jaxson is arguably the NFL's most daring mascot, famous for his extreme stunts like ziplining or bungee jumping into the stadium! His unpredictable antics even led to the NFL creating specific rules to rein in mascot conduct.

Miami Dolphins - T.D. (and the original Flipper)

Before T.D., the costumed dolphin, the Dolphins actually had a live dolphin named Flipper who would jump in a tank at the Orange Bowl after every score! The practice was eventually discontinued due to the high costs and logistical challenges of caring for a live animal.

Kansas City Chiefs - K.C. Wolf

K.C. Wolf was named after the 'Wolfpack,' a notoriously boisterous group of fans from the old Municipal Stadium. He replaced a live horse mascot named Warpaint and is even credited with inspiring other NFL teams to develop their own costumed characters!

Seattle Seahawks - Taima the Hawk

While the Seahawks have a costumed mascot named Blitz, their live mascot is Taima, an Augur Hawk. Interestingly, it's illegal to use a native osprey (the actual 'seahawk') for commercial purposes, so Taima flies in as their impressive, non-native bird of prey.

    New Orleans Saints - Gumbo

The Saints' beloved Saint Bernard mascot, Gumbo, actually began as a real dog who roamed the sidelines in the team's early days! The name Gumbo was chosen to reflect both the Louisiana Restaurant Association, who gifted the dog, and the iconic New Orleans dish.

    Arizona Cardinals - Big Red

Big Red, the team's anthropomorphic cardinal, 'hatched' in 1998. The team's name actually predates the mascot and comes from the 'cardinal red' color of their original uniforms, but the feisty nature of the Northern Cardinal proved to be a fitting symbol.

    Carolina Panthers - Sir Purr

Sir Purr is the sleek, friendly panther mascot for the Carolina Panthers. A fun fact about the team's naming: the combination of 'Panthers' and the color black in their branding actually sparked a brief controversy early on due to concerns about appealing to street gangs.

    Buffalo Bills - Billy Buffalo

This impressive 8-foot-tall blue American buffalo mascot is a direct reference to the team's name, which honors the legendary frontiersman and Wild West showman, Buffalo Bill Cody. Billy brings a powerful presence to the sidelines!
